Thanks everyone for the great bday wishes. I had a great day with my family!

Today's the day... the big Scrap Sale. And I got some great news in my email box today! You can expect to see some of my work in Simply Handmade in December!

Short and Sweet

I'm gonna keep this short and sweet for a couple of reasons.

#1 I have kits to ship out to all my homeschoolers. I have favorites every month, but this month I love each and every one of the cards. Just a couple more days to sign up. Go Here  for more info. I've had such a great response for sign ups this round. Thanks to everyone thats joined and if your thinking about it, i'd love to have you! I'll release pictures as soon as I know that kits are in the homeschoolers hands. I don't like to spoil the surprises.

#2 Every bone and muscle in my hands is aching. They've been very busy getting ready for the Scrap Sale.

#3 It's my birthday and I have lots of birthday business to get to! Like get a hand message!

What do you do with your scraps?

You know that time that comes every so often when you think to yourself I just can't stand it for one more second? That time came for me and my scrap bin yesterday. It was way overstuffed and my girls have free reign on this scrap bin so you can imagine that its hard to keep organized.

Here's the before... kind of what I looked like before I got my hair cut last week... way out of control.

The bin is just a rubbermaid bin from Target. I have Cropper Hopper plastic dividers in the box (you can see those better in the next picture)

I divide my scraps by colors for the cardstock and then I have a section in the back for patterned paper.

First I pulled out each section and got rid of anything that was smaller than a 4x6ish size. I then placed it back in the proper section.

After all the cardstock was weeded through I pulled out all the patterned paper. I sorted it by color and as I was going through it I threw out anything that had become damaged, I didn't like anymore or that was smaller than a 4x6ish size. I placed it back in the box roughly arranged by color.

One of the great things about sprucing up my scrap bin is that I have a pretty good idea of whats in there. I put all the purged items in a box in the garage. I told the girls that was for them to use for awhile. This way my scrap bin will stay clean for a little bit longer. I plan to put it in the recycling before we leave on vacation.

Here's the after... makes me so happy!

This system has worked really well for me for years. If you're looking for a cheap way to get control of your scraps I'd highly recommend you try it.

On this day

I'm getting a much needed hair cut and color! Hopefully which will result in bangs to cover the wrinkles on my forehead and color to cover my new Gray.

Trying 2 new recipes for dinner. Teriyaki Chicken and Soba noodle vegetable salad. They both have great reviews but we'll see just how much I can screw them up.

Getting more goodies ready for the Scrap sale next Friday. If you're in the So. Cal area email me and i'll send you the address. So much good stuff!

Going for a walk tonight. Working on a goal I set for this week.

and most of all answering questions like this one from yesterday... Mom, if you put a marker spot on a tree trunk and the tree grew a branch right in that spot would the marker spot be on the bottom of the branch or on the tip of the branch?

Lazy days of summer countdown...

I'm soooooooo jealous of all my friends that have been enjoying the first weeks of summer vacation. Tomorrow is the big ship day for CHA so that will be off my plate. Then I have a card class right around the corner. In 7 days I will be able to totally relax my class will be done, then have my scrap sale with Steph on the 10th and then jet on outta here for vacation. Had to whip up something summery to keep my eye on the prize! Hope you have an awesome day!

 

New use for craft supplies

Two weeks ago I thought that summer vacation would bring a much needed rest from the routine of the school year. Tonight I let go of that fantasy and am fully aware that I am much more exhusted than I was two weeks ago. Tonight I considered squirting my tacky glue into my ears. Let me give you a glimps into my world. If  you have kids its probably the same as yours.

Mom!... you know the shutters on the laundry room...ya... how many are there?... I really am not sure that I have ever counted them... Mom!... Ya! Mom! Yes!!!... There's 256... Good to know!

Mom!... Go like this... Close your eyes and rub your eyelids. Can you feel them? Your pupils are round like little balls inside your eyes.

Mom!... Did Michael Jackson sing that song "I'll save you some of my muffin top?" You mean Ma ma say, ma ma sa, Ma ma Coo sa? Um, no I mean the one about a muffin top. Ya Kylah  he sings that too.

Ma! Do you think dusty misses his mom? I don't know, he's lived here for seven years, he seems pretty happy for a dog. No I mean do you think he misses his mom? Yes, I think he does.

MaMa! Yes Ky... MAMA!!!! Yes Ky.... MAAAAAMAAAAA!!! Did you know I can turn my belly button inside out? No I didn't... Wanna See.

My Ky is like an AK47 of question asking. She can also whistle the Ode' to Joy and she whistles it ALL DAY LONG. In between questions of course. She also needs her hearing checked. But man do I love that girl.

Little things and little ones

 

It really is the little things that matter. Things i'm realizing i'm missing a little bit. Its been a long week of working. I'm glad tomorrow is Friday. It doesn't mean any less work will be calling my name but it does mean I will have a new day to snag a hug, or coax some little girl hands to come work along side mine, or to sneak in a tickle and wrestle break, or take a breather and eat some strawberries together, or to hold hands and sit in the sun for a bit.
